Home Remedies for Acne (& Other Natural Remedies)

Natural & Home Remedies for Acne. You don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune on commercial products to get rid of acne and pimples. There are 4 main natural ways to treat acne which will cost you very little.

The causes of acne are multiple: nutritional, environmental, stress, exposure to (or consumption of) toxic ingredients (or medicine with skin side-effects) and hormonal. Unless you wish to resort to drastic (but admittedly very effective) drugs such as the pill Dianette (which works wonders for women whose cause of acne is hormonal), you can safely try a number of homeopathic remedies. But what can you do yourself, at home, or just by going to the closest health-food store, to get rid of your acne or pimples?

Here are 4 natural ways (including home remedies) to treat your acne (Natural & Home Remedies for Acne):

1. Drinking good, spring water (still or carbonated, it makes no difference) is very important in that it not only helps your skin to stay hydrated and supple, but it aids your body in cleansing itself of toxins, pesticides and other harmful components; if your body is not well hydrated with good quality spring water (not soda water nor chlorinated tap water – if you must use tap water make sure you use a powerful filter), it tries to eliminate toxins in a number of ways, including the skin (hence the appearance of breakouts related to your diet, for example). Home Remedies for Acne

2. Pure vinegar or pure lemon juice (diluted in water if you prefer) can be a useful natural cleanser of your face and/or body skin; moreover, this juice will help you remove excess oil or grease from your skin (if you suffer from dry skin this juice is not indicated, of course).  However, remember that you can’t mix an astringent and strong cleanser such as lemon juice with other products, especially if those are chemical-based:  this could cause a reaction and leave your skin particularly sensitive or even irritated.  So, try lemon juice, for example, see how your skin reacts for a few days, and do not mix it with other, chemical treatments or even cosmetic ‘masks’.  You may find that your skin becomes too dry, for example, in which case a skin soother without any oil may help you, perhaps containing Vitamin E or Aloe Vera.

3. Oral supplements can help your body heal itself from skin infections (a pimple is a type of skin infection).  You can choose a good quality multi-vitamin supplement and perhaps accompany it with essential single supplements which are extremely useful against acne and skin conditions, such as Vitamin A (with or without Vitamin E) and Zinc (Zinc is also very useful in promoting healing from acne scars).

4. Good and Bad Food. Caffeine and chocolate are actually bad for acne (they stimulate the production of acne-creating-hormones), and so are all fast and processed foods (which contain toxins, skin ‘irritants’, excess sugar and bad fats, all very damaging to your skin. On the other hand, green vegetables, whole-grain (or multi-grain) foods (including whole-grain or multi-grain pasta, whole-grain rice and whole-grain or multi-grain bread), fruits (especially if all organic thus free from pesticides) are all excellent for your skin and essential if you have already developed acne scars (your body will try to repair your acne scars but you need to help it and not hinder it).
