Green Tea for Arthritis (and Matcha)
How Green Tea for Arthritis. How Green Tea and Matcha help you against Arthritis (and Rheumatoid Arthritis in particular).
Rheumatoid Arthritis takes place when the immune system attacks itself, affecting the joints (and other body areas) and creating inflammation, pain, swelling and bone/joint degeneration.
Green Tea for Arthritis (including Matcha Powder). Besides great anti-oxidant effects, green tea (and its superior version, matcha powder) may be able to help you prevent arthritis or minimize its symptoms. If this is true, this may explain why my constant intake of matcha powder (drank as a warm or cold latte drink) may have, despite being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis very young, played a part in the fact that I don’t suffer from any symptoms.
Simplistic Summary of the Study : study results in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences indicate that polyphenols, which are abundant in green tea and super-abundant in matcha, may play an important role in ‘regressing’ Rheumatoid Arthritis or reducing the severity of its symptoms. This study took place at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio (led by Dr Tariq Haqqi), where the laboratory mice (suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis, induced in the poor animals artificially but showing the same effects as in affected humans) were either given green tea (only modest doses, the equivalent of 4 cups a day for a person) or plain water.
The results of Green Tea for Arthritis were quite clear: the mice who were given green tea were showing only minor symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis and they all surfaced with significant delays compared to the mice who were given plain water. Further examination of the animals’ joint tissue revealed that those who took green tea showed a much lower disease penetration than those who had been given plain water, who showed massive ‘penetration’ of the disease.
Geographical Occurrence of Green Tea for Arthritis. Countries such as Japan, China and India seem to have a much lower incidence of Rheumatoid Arthritis; basically, it is not as widespread as in other areas (such as North America, Canada or even Europe). Since these ‘healthier’ regions (and their inhabitants) regard green tea as therapeutic and consume it regularly, it could safely be assumed that green tea’s benefits against Rheumatoid Arthritis are real and larger than we thought. At the same time, those ‘healthier’ regions consume much less red meat and follow a more ‘naturopathic’ approach to health, which could also be significant in the prevention and treatment of chronic degenerative diseases such as Arthritis.
On a footnote, these days I do not buy any green tea or matcha products which originate from Japan. I now buy organic matcha from China, since European controls (which are much stricter than in North American in my experienced opinion) have found the presence of ‘excessive radioactive material’ in Japan-imported Green Tea. You can read about it on http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110619a4.html
If you want to find out ways to reduce radiation particles from your body (and also eliminate many other toxins, including pesticides and heavy metals), read my new article on Zeolite. Interestingly, once such toxic materials are removed from your body, it becomes much better able to heal itself from a variety of illnesses and conditions, including arthritis.
