They found a chemical compound (peptide called astressin-B) which unequivocally helps by blocking a stress-related hormone (corticotrophin-releasing factor or CRF) and, even more astonishingly, this chemical compound showed to induce hair-growth in a way never seen before, leading to a total re-growth of hair. This because it appears to block the stress-related hormone which, in a series of complex steps, is associated with hair loss, the ‘dreaded’ DHT hormone and other hair problems related to stress hormone receptors, which include aging-related hair loss.  

Earlier on I used the word ‘cure’. This because, unlike current (and only mildly effective) hair loss treatments, what appears from the research is that all you need is a short-term treatment to enjoy results which would stretch over months and months without having to repeat the treatment the way you have with current, less effective hair loss products and treatments.

This hair loss latest news is truly great news. For now, of course, the involved teams are applying for a patent of this amazing CRF blocker (at skin level). Then of course, as with all pharmaceuticals, there will be further research to humans required in order for it to be approved. The pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies may or may not interfere with the roll-out of such a revolutionary treatment and, in the wrong ‘hands’, it may even be weakened to make it essential that patients have to continue to buy it forever (after all, chronic treatments are the most lucrative for the manufacturers and distributors). The latter are conjectures, of course, but I don’t think it would be the first time that ‘cures’ have been blocked to favor longer-term, less effective treatments. I am skeptical that this miracle against hair loss will be allowed to be on the pharmacy’s shelf anytime soon. But the discovery is real, the effectiveness is real and we just have to hope that this time sufferers will soon benefit from such a fantastic discovery.
